Bratz Dolls

Fashion, friends and plenty of attitude. Bratz gave the fashion-doll aisle a very different look in the early 2000s.

Big heads, big eyes, lots of makeup. And plenty of attitude (mean girls, for kids).

Bratz didn't look much like the fashion dolls that had come before. The original four - Cloe, Yasmin, Jade and Sasha - each had their own looks, personalities and wardrobes, with an emphasis on contemporary fashion that made them immediately recognizable and distinct.

MGA Entertainment launched Bratz in 2001. The dolls caught on and quickly became serious competition in a fashion-doll category that Barbie had dominated for decades. MGA itself once described the original Bratz as a diverse group of fashion dolls that “turned the category on its head.”

And fashion was the point. Different outfits. Shoes. Accessories. Hairstyles. Cars. Playsets. New collections. If you already had a Bratz doll, there was always something else you could add.

Before long there were plenty of spinoffs - Bratz Boyz, Bratz Babyz, smaller dolls, along with television shows, movies and video games. But Cloe, Yasmin, Jade and Sasha remained the core Bratz Pack.

Bratz disappeared from store shelves at various points and came back again, but the original characters are still around today. More than two decades later, those oversized heads, big eyes and unmistakable fashion still make a Bratz doll pretty hard to confuse with anybody else.
