Pick up the tweezers and keep your hand steady. Touch the sides and — BUZZZZ! — Cavity Sam's nose lights up.

Poor Cavity Sam has a lot wrong with him. Writer's Cramp. Water on the Knee. Butterflies in the Stomach. And, of course, that troublesome Funny Bone. Your job, as an expert surgeon, is to remove the offending pieces with a pair of metal tweezers. Sounds easy enough - until those tweezers touch the metal edge, then, BUZZZZ! Sam's big red nose lights up, everybody knows you missed, and your turn is over.

Operation arrived in the 1960s and turned a basic steady-hand electrical game into something much more memorable by making you the surgeon. Each little plastic ailment piece fits into an opening in Sam's body, and the openings are just tight enough that getting the pieces out without touching the sides takes some concentration.

The clever names were half the fun. You weren't removing an ordinary bone from an ordinary patient. You were fixing a Broken Heart, taking care of Butterflies in the Stomach, and trying to get that little Wish Bone out without hearing the buzzer.

Operation is still around, and Cavity Sam still has that same worried expression on his face. Which is understandable. You're about to perform surgery on him with a pair of tweezers.
