Pull his arms. Stretch his legs. Let go, and watch him slowly work his way back into shape. Stretch Armstrong looked like a muscular action figure, but ordinary action figures couldn’t do what Stretch could. Kenner introduced Stretch Armstrong in 1976. His stretchy skin was filled with thick corn syrup, which helped give him those unusual proportions when you pulled on him. No batteries or complicated instructions. You could hand him to somebody, and they’d pretty quickly figure out what to try.

The temptation, of course, was to see just how far you could stretch him. Which was not always a good idea - you could actually stretch him too far and break him (where he would start leaking the corn syrup filling), or damage him to where he couldn’t get back to his original shape.

The current Classic Stretch Armstrong brings back the originally looking blond-haired figure - and still describes the corn-syrup filling, just like the original. There’s even a new Funko Pop! Stretch Armstrong version if you want the retro Stretch in a more modern (non-stretchable) version.
