Tech Deck put miniature trucks, wheels, and real skate-brand graphics on tiny skateboards small enough to use on a tabletop. The brand dates back to 1998 and became a familiar part of the 2000s resurgence in the popularity of full sized skateboards. Licensed graphics and themes gave collectors favorite designs to look for. But the boards weren’t just for display - you could actually roll them, turn them, pop them up, and practice fingerboard tricks that took a lot of practice (and looked a lot easier when somebody else demonstrated them).
Getting a flip to land where you intended took practice (a lot of practice). A book’s edge could become an obstacle, and ramps and miniature parks gave you more places to try new maneuvers. There was no need for a driveway, just a clear patch of tabletop.
Tech Deck fingerboards, multipacks, and ramp sets are still available, and the various themed kits are still around, like The Simpsons and SpongeBob. There are also several aftermarket skateboard park kits that can be used with the Tech Deck originals. Compare the actual board and package contents, especially if you’re adding to somebody’s existing little skatepark to make sure they are the same size and scale.
